Clybourne Park
by Bruce Norris
October 2 - 27, 2013
Pulitzer Prize Winner and Tony Award Winner for Best Play Clybourne Park explodes in two outrageous acts set fifty years apart. Act 1 takes place in 1959, as nervous community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act 2 is set in the same house in the present day, as the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification.

Going backstage afterward he meets the production’s star, Katharine Cornell, who was dubbed “The First Lady of the American Stage.” A mix of remembrance and imagination, The Grand Manner is a love letter to this fabled actress and a heartfelt look back at the glorious heyday of the Broadway theater.
